Autumn in Gilgit Baltistan is the time of year when the trees of poplar, apricot, mulberry, peach, apple and plum burst forth into a riot of color with hues of orange, rust and red. The clear and bracing weather offers the best view of the surrounding mountains.
During mid September to mid November various trees start changing and adding colors to nature and making it one of the picturesque moments. The whole region presents breathtaking views and vibrant landscapes for a nature lover.
The popular Karakorum Highway along the Indus and provides finest opportunities to explore colors of autumn in Fairy Meadows, Gilgit, Naltar, Ghizer, Hunza, Nagar along with views of mighty Nanga Parbat, Rakaposhi, Diran, Ultar Peaks, Golden Peak and several other high mountains in the region.
Khalti Lake is located in Gupis Valley. It is quite famous for fresh water trout in the region. The lake itself is formed by natural stretch of Gilgit River, also known as Ghizer River, near the village of Khalti. The water is extremely cold which flows directly from surrounding glaciers. The lake usually freezes in winter season and people can easily walk on it.Gupis Valley itself is very beautiful with full of spectacular landscapes and breathtaking views.
