Banak Pass (Branak Khund) is located in Shagarthang (Skardu) and Gutumsar in Astore Valley. It is difficult and only for experienced trekkers with rope, crampons and ice axe.

A breathtaking valley, with snow capped mountains in winters and mild summers a lush green village. This valley is renowned for a pure nature and small homes compose the villages with huge fields of vegetation and livestock. Transhumance is a common practice. The native language is Shina, but Urdu is also spoken frequently. The natives are known for their warm welcoming and pleasant attitudes towards the tourists.
The scenic beauty after crossing the pass the valley is enhanced by the forests of Juniper and cedar trees along with the summer pastures. It is indeed a sight worth seeing. The peaceful lake and the sky-high mountains provides one the peace of mind It is located in Perishing Gutumsar valley in Astore.Like Rama Valley, Gutumsar valley is home to the variety of fauna such as ibex, musk deer, snow leopard and rock partridge. Medicinal plants are also found in abundance. Besides other attractions, this area is famous for Urdoung Lake.
