Diran Peak is situated between Rakaposhi & Haramosh Massif of Karakoram Range near the Minapin, Hinarchi and Baultar glaciers. It is easily accessible because of the Karakoram Highway.The most beautiful mountains in Nagar valley with easy climb of its snow dome. Like other peaks in Pakistan it also has two names Diran Peak and Minapin Peak.
Diran Peak was first climbed in 1968 by three Austrians Rainer Goeschl, Rudolph Pischinger and Hanns Schell. Earlier attempts by a German expedition in 1959 and an Australian expedition in 1964 were unsuccessful. This peak has a reputation for its treacherous storms and avalanches. Sitting beside the Rakaposhi and Haramosh high peaks which surrounded by three glaciers, it offers a panoramic view of the Hunza valley. Accessible from Gilgit on KKH to Minapin-Gutens-Hapakun-BC to the pasture land on a beautiful meadow, it offers extraordinary views of the green land of Nagar valley, and the villages downhill give the picturesque view of agricultural fields and orchards.
