Deosai is the world’s second highest plateau in the world standing at 4100m and is spread over 3000 sq km. In Balti, the region is known as “Bhear Sa” meaning “place of flowers”. The spectacular scenery that Deosai offers from mid-June to mid-September is highlighted by some 342 species of vegetation.

Deosai is known for its exotic flora and fauna. It is home to the Himalayan brown bear, one of the most endangered species of animals in the world. Its number was reduced to only a couple of dozen until necessary steps were taken to ensure its survival. The brown bear’s main habitat is the southern part of Deosai.

On the way to Gultari before Bari La, there is Seven Lake Seven Peak area which offers tremendous camping places for tourists in summer. Deo Sar is one of the most beautiful of these seven peaks. The Gultari Village, Shingo Shigar is among the biggest valleys of Baltistan located south of Skardu. The valleys are enclosed between the mountains of the Himalaya.
